Leeds 1-1 Brentford: Dominic Calvert-Lewin earns point for hosts with late tap-in after Kevin Schade's brilliant opener

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a late tap-in to earn Leeds United a 1-1 draw with Brentford at Elland Road.

Brentford had been on course for a second victory of the season after thrashing Tottenham last weekend when Kevin Schade deservedly put them ahead with a clever finish, guiding in Keane Lewis-Potter's low cross with the outside of his right boot shortly before half-time.

Keith Andrews' side were particularly impressive in the first half, controlling the game with their pace and aggression to quieten the home supporters as new signing Mamadou Sangare shone again in midfield.

But Leeds head coach Daniel Farke responded at half-time, bravely switching to a back four with two substitutions which caused Brentford problems even though the visitors went on to record 22 shots compared to the hosts' 12.

The introduction of striker Lukas Nmecha later in the second half also proved crucial as his low shot-cum-cross in the box was turned in from close range by Calvert-Lewin to leave both sides with four points from two games.

Leeds striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin speaking to Your Site on being the only player to have scored in every Premier League season for the last 11 years:

"It's crazy. It's flown by, I still remember my debut like yesterday.

"I'm proud to be here. It's been a long road to get to where I am now but I'm feeling very good and excited to keep playing.

"We have to look to build on last season and take it step by step."

Leeds manager Daniel Farke speaking to Your Site:

"I'm proud of my players today. It was a difficult game as expected. They were the better side in the first half and fully deserved to be in the lead.

"We needed to try everything. We changed the base formation at half-time. We gained control back, lost it again, changed the base formation again and we were then in control and equalised.

"A point was a fair outcome for the result because we were the better side in the second half. Sometimes you have to win points with mentality and that's what we did today."

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews speaking to Your Site:

"We played here in March and it was 0-0, it was a completely different game and feel to it. The way we had to approach it was quite pragmatic. Today was a different mindset as a group. How we've started the season has been built on what we did last season - you could see that in the first half.

"Daniel [Farke] made changes at half-time, getting more attacking players on the pitch. We forced them into changing their system and you've got to defend really well, respect what comes your way.

"We did that in the main and restricted them to very few opportunities. We couldn't quite play our way out of trouble on occasions when they were committing so many bodies forward.

"I really like us at the moment. We're in a good place that's come from nothing but hard work and a spirit from the group that wants to achieve something."
