The Hundred: Tim Seifert's big knock guides Manchester Super Giants to thrilling seven-run win vs London Spirit

Tim Seifert's huge knock of 67 runs off 45 deliveries saw Manchester Super Giants defeat London Spirit by seven runs in thrilling circumstances at Lord's.

After losing the toss, the Super Giants were sent in to bat first, setting the hosts a target of 139 to win.

But in the most thrilling of circumstances, Spirit captain Liam Livingstone, who starred with the bat and ball, edged his side closer and closer towards the Super Giants' total, scoring 69 runs off 40 deliveries.

Thanks to his tally of four fours and five sixes, Livingstone moved his side to needing nine runs off three deliveries, before he was bowled out by Sonny Baker, who closed out the match by dismissing James Coles.

"We couldn't get over the line, a little disappointed," Livingstone said. "It was a good game of cricket. Just a shame we fell short.

"It was one of those pitches where they were probably about par. We just got ourselves too far behind the run rate to catch up at the end.

"Like I said, a little bit rusty and disappointed. We bowled some really good stuff through the middle and dragged them back towards the end. It's a pretty decent start and hopefully we can build on this."

Things didn't start so well for the Super Giants, who lost their captain Aiden Markram for one run off ten deliveries, after he was trapped by Adam Milne. Jos Buttler was then bowled for 16 by Adam Zampa.

Heinrich Klassen followed not long behind him, with Livingstone taking a brilliant catch at extra cover off a delivery from David Willey, with the sun in his eyes.

Zampa took another, again bowling Leus du Plooy for six runs, leaving the visitors at 116-4, with Tom Moores being run out by James Rew and Dewald Brevis for a duck.

Seifert fell next, hitting his ball to David Willey at cover off a Coles delivery.

Livingstone would then dismiss both Liam Dawson and Gus Atkinson, while also combining with Coles to run out Josh Tongue at the death.

Spirit struggled against the Super Giants' bowling attack, with Atkinson snaring all of Lhuan-Dre Pretorius (12), James Rew (0) and Dewald Brevis (22), while Kiran Carlson was dismissed by Dawson.

Baker wrapped things up in style, showing why he is a potential England star.

Friday's Hundred double-header comes from Edgbaston as Birmingham Phoenix take on Trent Rockets. The women's game starts at 3pm, with the men's match due to commence from 6.30pm. Catch both fixtures live on Your Site and on YouTube.
