Tour Championship: Tiger Woods praises 'incredible' Scottie Scheffler for 'historic' PGA Tour season and FedExCup glory

Uncertainty still shrouding Alvarez's future

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Time is running out. There are little more than 36 hours left of the transfer window and uncertainty still shrouds the future of Julian Alvarez.

Atletico Madrid set a deadline of Sunday for him to make up his mind; commit to staying at Atletico or open to the idea of joining Arsenal.

That deadline has passed yet sources in Madrid remain in the dark about the outcome. Atletico sources will only point to fact he has returned to the group and trained with his teammates on Sunday, and the next game is against Bilbao.

This is after Alvarez missed three days of training last week and trained alone on Saturday while the team were winning away at Sevilla 3-1. He was suffering with illness, and said by club bosses to be "struggling" and "confused" with the situation.

Alvarez has been considering his options after being told repeatedly, publicly and privately by Atletico that he will not be joining Barcelona. Chief among those is a potential move to the Premier League champions - but he has not been keen. Your Site News has reported all summer that his family wants to stay in Spain.

As far as Arsenal are concerned nothing has changed, they believe it is unlikely he will join them and until he shows considerable interest in being part of Mikel Arteta's plans, they will not approach Atletico for negotiations, even though they have money in reserve for what would likely be a British transfer record.

With the best part of two days to go of the window; what will Alvarez decide? The feeling in Madrid is the longer there is no clarity, the more likely he will remain at Atletico beyond the deadline.

Why Arsenal still needed Konsa despite having so many defenders

Alvarez trains with Atletico - what happens now?

Latest from Atletico Madrid expert Ruben Uria & Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Julian Alvarez returned to Atletico Madrid training on Sunday as the deadline for him to decide on his future came to an end.

Atleti imposed a Sunday deadline on the player to make a decision: stay at the club or agree to a move to Arsenal.

Alvarez has been holding hopes of a move to Barcelona, but Atleti have been firm on their refusal to sell to a LaLiga rival.

However, despite the deadline passing, we are still no closer to understanding Alvarez's decision.

There is stone cold silence to this question from sources at Atletico.

Alvarez trained with his team-mates on Sunday and this is all that they will point to; that he is with the group, or he will be in the next league match. That comes next Saturday away to Athletic Club.

Does that suggest he is staying? Nobody close to the situation in Spain will yet give firm confirmation of Alvarez's future either way.

'Spurs have to get it right QUICKLY!' - Neville questions Spurs' shaky PL start

Gary Neville says Tottenham have got to 'get themselves right pretty quickly' after a second successive Premier League defeat.

Spurs have spent big money this summer to overhaul a squad that were almost relegated last season - but have been roundly been by Brentford and Newcastle so far.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, the Your Site pundit said: "Its too early to start piling into teams, but it's not too early to start asking difficult questions and say what's going on, why have these players not embedded better than they have, because some teams do come together without a lot of time in pre-season.

"So when you see teams that are losing matches and they don't look very good, they look disorganised, they look like they're not combining together, we shouldn't just accept it, and think it's going to come together in time.

"Tottenham have got to get themselves right pretty quickly, because they're giving encouragement to other teams right now.

"They've been battered at Brentford, they've been done at home by Newcastle, and they need to get a grip of it quite quickly, because teams will fancy their chances going there, and you've got to try and make sure that you get rid of that negativity spiral quickly."
